The objective of Eurocircle Deutschland e.V. (ecd) is to promote support for appropriate projects endorsing international tolerance and ideology as well as providing access to inter-cultural education.
Action 2 of the YOUTH IN ACTION programme run by the European voluntary service offers young people exceptional means of informal training and education, which are not only highly effective in their individual fields but also of great benefit in international and inter-cultural situations requiring social skills. This acquisition will accompany young people throughout their lives gaining ever increasing significance.
The role of the mentor should not be underestimated in the European voluntary service educational process.
The host organisation provides extensive personal support for European voluntary service volunteers as early on as the application phase.
Mentors have the following tasks:
- act as mediator for volunteers regarding host and coordination organisation
- assist with integration into the local community with respect to the district of accommodation and work
- assist with organisation of leisure activities
- create and highlight opportunities to meet other young people
- accompany volunteers to administrative and medical appointments
- help with everyday practical needs
- act as mediator between the different parties involved in accommodation arrangements
- provide support when contacting other European volunteers in the host region
- attend regular meetings with a representative from the host organisation and volunteer
- assistance with travel arrangements to trainings and seminars
- discuss feedback with respect to efficiency of learning outcomes upon completion of European voluntary service
Since the beginning of this year particular attention has been paid to ensure, where possible, that the European voluntary service mentor has not the same employer as the volunteer in order to perform the above mentioned tasks impartially.
ecd is in close contact with teachers trained in specific seminars run by the National Agency who can work as experienced mentors for host organisations in the Berlin/Brandenburg region.
Non-profit making organisations that require support with tutoring for their hosting project are welcome to contact us.
